I once toured the Norfolk-Southern maintenance facility in Roanoke and was shown, among other things, a *huge* metal lathe being operated by a guy who was probably in his 40s. Next to the lathe were 3 vintage photos of the same machine with its last 3 operators...him, his Dad and his Granddad before that. The three of them had been handling those chores for well over 60 years.

Amazing how these types of industries are a thing of the past in the good ole USA... your lucky if you can at a job for more than 5 years anymore much less 3 generations...
